Leadership

Joe Martinez, B.Min., M.Th.

Lead Teaching Pastor

Joe Martinez serves as the Lead Teaching Pastor of Sovereign Grace Bible Church. His desire is simple: to see Christ exalted, the gospel faithfully proclaimed, and people transformed through the clear teaching and application of God’s Word.

Joe came to saving faith in Jesus Christ at nineteen and was baptized shortly afterward. He and his wife, Nicole, were married in 2001 and moved to Iowa, where they raised their family and became increasingly involved in the life and ministry of the local church.

For more than fifteen years, Joe has served in preaching, teaching, discipleship, and pastoral ministry. He earned a Bachelor of Ministry from the Antioch School and later a Master of Theology. Over the years, he has served in lay leadership, helped plant a local church campus, was ordained to pastoral ministry, and served as an Associate Pastor. Alongside ministry, Joe has spent more than twenty-five years working in skilled trades, manufacturing, engineering, and automation.

A longstanding desire to help establish faithful local churches eventually brought Joe and Nicole together with other like-minded believers committed to seeing a biblically faithful church established in the Quad Cities. From that shared conviction, Sovereign Grace Bible Church was born.

Joe and Nicole have been married for twenty-five years and have four adult children. Joe considers it a privilege to serve SGBC and desires to see Christ glorified through the faithful preaching of His Word, the making of disciples, and the proclamation of the gospel throughout the Quad Cities.
